THIS year’s Liphook Carnival Walk was a big success, say organisers. Fifty-two walkers turned up for the walk and helped raise £1,149 for the carnival, with possibly some more money to come in.
The highest sponsored walker was Sally Cameron, who is on the carnival committee and raised £542. Sally’s prize was a meal for two donated by the Deer’s Hut.
All entrants had the option to choose which route they wanted to walk out of three circular routes.
Twenty-eight walkers completed the short three-and-a-half mile route, six walkers completed the medium nine mile route, and 18 walkers completed the long 11-and-a-half mile route.
Rob Harris-Dibben, who helps organise the Liphook Carnival Walk, was full of praise for the hospitality provided by the Deer’s Hut pub on the day, and he thanked everyone for supporting the walk.
Rob said:?“I’d like to thank the Deer’s Hut for providing the bacon butties and coffee at the start and the prize for the highest sponsored walker. I’d also like to thank the marshals, back markers and the admin team. There was a bit of drizzle on the day, but it was not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the walkers.”
This year’s Liphook Carnival will take place on Saturday, October 28.
