WORLD famous country duo Ward Thomas from Hawkley busked in Petersfield Square as part of their nationwide busking tour aimed at raising money for environmental organisations.
From May 1 until the start of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on October 31 the chart topping sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas are to busk outdoors in towns and cities across the UK.
The twins said: “We have pledged to busk every week in a different UK location to raise as much money and awareness as possible for climate change and the environment.”
Last Friday (June 25) as part of their ‘Busking for our Planet’ tour of the UK they performed in The Square, in front of around a crowd of about 50 delighted music lovers.
The sisters, whose second album, Cartwheels was the first ever country album to make number one in the UK, hope to raise £100,000 for five charities.
These are UK-based TreeSisters that has so far funded 15 million trees across the world, Ocean Clean Up, a charity helping to clear oceans and rivers of plastic and trash, Arctic Ice Project aimed at saving the ice packs, Jane Goodall Institute that supports and protects chimpanzees, and Client Earth, a team using the power of the law to protect people and the planet.
