THE UPBEAT organiser of the South Downs Show says sorry she didn’t book the sun – but she is hopeful of good weather next year.

Terena Plowright said: “This year I forget to order the sun, for which I apologise, but I’m expecting delivery next year.”

And confidently she has booked the show site on the slopes of Butser Hill for August 19 and August 20, 2017.

But she also said this year’s show at the weekend had been weather affected as visitors stayed away and traders struggled to hang on to their stalls.

She added: “It was blustery and wet on Saturday, but the atmosphere was amazing, and the traders and volunteers bravely stuck it out, and the events went ahead.

“Sunday was much better, and about 3,000 people came, and they seemed to really enjoy it. I can’t thank all the sponsors and volunteers enough – without them it wouldn’t happen, they were fantastic. Now we are looking forward to next year.”
