A TEAM of Petersfield footballers braved the heatwave to battle it out on the pitch – raising £1,140 for Wessex Heartbeat, which serves local patients, and their families, undergoing cardiac care.

Fundraising FC, a Petersfield-based football team created to raise funds for a different charity every month, took on Hampshire Charity Football Club in a sponsored match at Petersfield Town Football Club to raise the funds.

Fundraising FC manager Simon Milne said: “We formed Fundraising FC in 2021 with the aim of playing monthly games to raise money for charity while having some fun.

“Choosing Wessex Heartbeat felt particularly special as several of our players have family members who have benefited from their high-quality cardiac care.

“Although we lost it didn’t matter, as the day was about getting together to raise money for this important charity.”
