PEOPLE have been seeing red at a Petersfield shop following the launch of a First World War-themed event.

A variety of poppy-themed items were displayed in the window of Sew Creative to promote this year’s Petersfield Sewing Bee Challenge.

People who enter the fourth annual event have been set three challenges by bosses at the Lavant Street store. They include up-cycling and using linen, which was very scarce in 1914, and making items out of the poppy fabric on display.

Entrants should get stitching as the winners of this year’s competition will be announced this coming Saturday.

More than 60 people have submitted entries while Wendy Gardiner, local celebrity sewer and author, will complete the final judging and present the winners with their prizes.
