SEEDS from the winner of the inaugural pumpkin competition at a Steep school will be used to grow next year's vegetables.
The competition at Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst, was launched in the spring of this year.
Ryan Walsh, Dunhurst Head of Outdoor Work Ryan Walsh said: “We launched the competition last spring and all pupils were offered a few pumpkin seeds to sow and grow in their gardens at home.
“The winning pumpkin, grown by Lukas, weighed in at 45kg – twice the size of my 23kg effort.
“Lukas kindly donated his pumpkin to the school, so we will carve it, make soup and then save the seeds for next year’s competition.”
