THE AUTUMN open day at the Winton House Centre in Petersfield High Street saw scores of people enjoy free tea and cake and learn more about what the centre does.

In 1982 the Victorian building became home to the centre’s charity, which aims to deliver a range of services and activities to people needing support to combat isolation, especially the elderly.

It also provides socialising and volunteering opportunities.

A spokesman said it had been a very successful day, with visitors learning about the services on offer in the centre, and about the history of the building, which was once the town’s library.
