With classical and jazz appeal

ALTON Women’s Refuge and Alton Food Bank – two causes close to the heart of the Holybourne Singers – are to benefit from a Petersfield concert.

The singers are thrilled to be performing at St Peter’s Church, Petersfield, on Saturday,?July 15, at 7.30pm, with the internationally renowned composer Will Todd and his band.

The programme is “mega jazzy, really exciting and light”, according to Sue Hubbard of the singers.

Will’s Mass in Blue will be performed, as well as composer Bob Chilcott’s A Little Jazz Mass, which is his setting of the Latin Missa Brevis.

Chilcott’s musicianship has brought together two diverse traditions, the Latin mass and the jazz idiom.

“This is an evening to suit classical and jazz lovers alike. If you are new to classical music, this is the concert to come to,” added Sue.

Soprano Hilary Cronin, the conducting skills of Rebekah Abbott, an appearance by the Holybourne’s children’s choir, and Prosecco in the interval are all in this enticing evening’s mix too.
