Police have released CCTV footage after a man was assaulted in Alton.

Just after 11pm on Saturday, January 6, a man was assaulted as he walked across the road by Market Square.

He was hit in the face and was knocked unconscious.

Officers have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with this incident and he has been released under investigation.

However, investigators are still appealing for information to help identify the man in the CCTV film.

He is described as: white, of skinny build, wearing a dark tracksuit with GK written on the front, and a green gilet jacket.

Hampshire Police Staff Investigator Michael Longmore said: “The 47-year-old victim was assaulted in an unprovoked attack while out in Market Square. This happened outside a busy pub. Did you see what happened? Do you know the man in the CCTV?

“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible quoting 44180007545.”
