A PASSENGER was killed when the vehicle in which he was travelling struck a tree in Hollywater Road, Passfield.

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident involving a 4x4 type vehicle on Friday, November 6, at 7.31am.

A 29-year-old man from Romania was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Poland, was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was travelling east along Hollywater Road heading towards the B3004, near the junction with Lynchborough Road.

Surrey Fire and Rescue and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services were in attendance alongside South Central Ambulance Service.

Senior Investigating Officer Police Sergeant Gabe Snuggs said: “We are appealing for witnesses in relation to this incident. We are particularly looking to speak with the driver of a black car that we believe was travelling in the opposite direction towards Liphook Road at around the time the collision occurred.

"Were you travelling west on the Hollywater road this morning at around 7.25am? Do you drive a black car? Please get in contact," she added.
