BLACKMOOR and Whitehill Women’s Institute supports many events in the community and was delighted to be asked to adopt an apple tree in the Honey Pin Orchard – a variety called ‘Scrumptious’ was chosen.

The community trust has received funding from East Hampshire District Council to provide this orchard in a pocket of land just off Savile Crescent in Bordon.

Money was used to buy 21 varieties of apple tree, from Southern Fruit Trees on the Blackmoor Estate, which will produce fruit at various times throughout the growing season. Some cooking apple trees were also bought.

All the trees were planted during National Tree Week, which began on Saturday, November 23.

When the trees are established, plaques and information will be added so people can follow the progress of the project.
