MAINTAINING water pressure for people’s taps is the driving force behind South East Water’s work to lay a 650-metre pipeline along Woolmer Road in Greatham.
As the community grows the water company is keeping its supply network up with the increasing demand for drinking water. With a £189,000 investment, work has started along Woolmer Road, from the junction with Digby Way moving east in the southern carriageway.
It is expected to be finished by spring next year.
South East Water project manager Steve Lambert said: “We know this is a busy road and we want to thank residents for their patience and co-operation while we lay the essential new pipeline.
“To keep pedestrians, motorists and our workforce safe there will be temporary traffic lights in place. We will make sure that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.”
Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activity at weekends.
