A DRIVE by a golfer from Petersfield raised almost £1,800 for charity from the town that helps people with learning difficulties.

Steve Brewster of Barham Road, is Seniors Captain of Waterlooville Golf Club, and nominated FitzRoy of Hylton Road in Petersfield as his chosen charity for the past year.

During the year, club members raised £1,750 through raffles and auctions, and the money will go towards building an activities cabin at the FitzRoy home in Liss.

Steve, a keen champion of a helping people with disabilities live a fulfilled life, said: “We are delighted to have been able to recognise FitzRoy’s vital work supporting people to live the life they choose, with this gift. I have always preferred to support local charities, and my Seniors Captaincy of the Waterlooville Golf Club gave me the opportunity to support a charity close to my heart, FitzRoy.

“Clearly the members shared my passion, and contributed, and my grateful thanks go to them for their huge generosity.”

FitzRoy human resources director Roybn Wedderburn, said: “We are immensely grateful to all the members of Waterlooville Golf Club who have given their time and money with such passion and generosity.”
