BLACKMOOR Golf Club Seniors have pulled out all the stops to fundraise for the Honeypot Children’s charity, their nominated charity for the last year.
With Captain Norman Foster helming the fundraising, Blackmoor Golf Club Seniors have raised more than £4,100 so that young carers and vulnerable children can take a break from their responsibilities or difficult circumstances at home and enjoy fun-filled respite breaks at Honeypot House in the New Forest.
Members of Blackmoor Golf Club Seniors have taken part in a Charity Golf Day and auction, raffles and other club activities. Norman also took part in a Christmas Day Fun Run to support the online part of the fundraising.
Activities have not been restricted to just the club either, with Norman’s three grandchildren challenging themselves to a sponsored silence to support Honeypot children.
“I was delighted to support the Honeypot Children’s Charity after I saw a documentary on television about the lives of young carers,” said Norman.
“We were very pleased to be able to visit Honeypot House, in the New Forest, to see all its wonderful facilities for the children.”
Viv Carter, Regional Community Fundraising Officer for Honeypot said: “We are so grateful to Norman and Blackmoor Golf Club Seniors for choosing to support Honeypot this year. We rely totally on voluntary donations in order to support up to 1000 young carers and vulnerable children aged 5-12 years old, as we receive no direct government funding.
"This donation will fund a full year of support for eight Honeypot children, which includes a respite break at Honeypot House in Hampshire, three visits from the Honeypot Playbus in their local community and a birthday card and a Christmas present.”
“The generosity of members of Blackmoor Golf Club Seniors will give Honeypot children a break from their caring responsibilities or issues at home, allowing them the chance to enjoy normal childhood activities with friends and create memories they can cherish.”
Further information about the Honeypot Children’s Charity is available at www.honeypot.org.uk and Viv is available to give talks to community groups about the work of the charity and to support any fundraising initiatives or events.
