THE CROSSOVER Youth Centre has moved to a new location in Liss.

The Crossover’s lease ran out at 71 Station Road earlier this month, and the centre has moved up the road to St Mary’s Church Hall.

Youth centre manager and youth worker Georgina Leigh said: “We decided to move as our old building was cold, and it was a flood risk.

“We were badly flooded two years ago, and we have had to put our flood defences up again recently.

“Michael Oakley, who is the founder of the Crossover, also goes to St Mary’s Church, so that helped us make the move to St Mary’s Church Hall.”

The Crossover moved into its new building on Monday and it is running a variety of sessions this week for half term.

The normal programme of full sessions will start at St Mary’s Church Hall on Monday, February 22.

The church hall has three storeys, with the ground floor and first floor being used by the children for their activities at the youth centre.

Although the Crossover has moved into its new site, it doesn’t currently have use of the building as the office on the second floor is a work in progress and has not been finished.

Georgina said: “We don’t yet have full use of the building as the office hasn’t been finished yet.

“Downstairs is sorted though, which is what the children need to use, and we asked the children for their input on the move.

“People offered to help move items from our old building, and one of the builders had a truck, which came in very useful.

“An East Hampshire District Council councillor has donated money to us for new furniture here, so this place will be great when it is fully up and running.

“We will have an official opening event in the future, with a special guest opening the building for us.”

The youth centre is looking for more volunteers and donors.
