Fans of Julia Donaldson will love Zog and the Flying Doctors at the Theatre Royal Winchester from March 8 to 10.

Zog the dragon is a super keen student turned air ambulance who, with his flying doctor crew of Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout, tends to a sunburnt mermaid, a unicorn with one too many horns and a lion with the flu.

However Pearl’s uncle, the King, has other ideas about whether princesses should be doctors and she is locked up in the castle. But with some help from friends, can Pearl make her uncle better and prove princesses can be doctors?

This adaptation of Zog and the Flying Doctors is based on author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s best-selling book and is brought to the stage by Freckle Productions, which specialises in theatre shows for families.

It features music and lyrics by singer, pianist and songwriter Joe Stilgoe, who has also created award-winning shows for the London Jazz Festival.

The show is recommended for those aged three and above.
