ALTON Hockey Club has had another busy summer and is all set to kick the new winter season off with a bang.

Two successful junior summer camps were held at Amery Hill School this month with children aged from six to 12 benefiting from expert coaching in small groups, learning core skills and game play experience. Both the ladies’ and men’s sections also took part in friendly summer leagues and a mixed tournament.

The winter season starts on Saturday at Amery Hill School with the annual club day, part of England Hockey’s HockeyFest.

The morning will be devoted to the junior section of the club and the afternoon will consist of an adult tournament. There is a session at 9am dedicated to juniors who have never played hockey to come and have a go. This year the club is welcoming Great Britain international and Reading player Liam Sanford who will be popping along from 11am to 1pm to meet and inspire members of all ages.

League games start towards the end of September with the club this year fielding five men’s teams, two ladies’ teams and junior teams representing all age groups. New members are very welcome at club day and training.
