PETERSFIELD Hockey Club have hosted their annual club day.
The event is held each year to mark the start of the new season and to bring all the teams back together after the summer for social matches, coinciding with the national HockeyFest event.
This year the club was recognised by England Hockey.
The day was well attended by members old and new across the ages.
Juniors took over the pitch in the morning as they took part in training sessions and masterclasses.
The ladies’ first team then played an invitational match against Haslemere, winning 5-2.
A six-a-side tournament broke up the afternoon, and the men’s first team played the annual Cunliffe Cup match against an invitational side to honour the founding members of the club.
The barbecue was in full flow and, not only did the day help showcase the skills across the junior and senior sections, it also raised funds to help finance the club.
Petersfield Hockey Club were also visited by England and Great Britain men’s under-21 goalkeeper Chris Wyver, who joined the club during their club day to host a masterclass for the junior goalkeepers.
Wyver held an hour’s masterclass for the juniors, within which he helped their basic technique and developed their reaction to pressure play.
The masterclass was attended by a number of junior goalkeepers. It was a huge success and the club hopes to keep up the support towards its goalkeepers.
