Petersfield 8 Salisbury II 2: PETERSFIELD hosted 11th-placed Salisbury on a brisk Saturday afternoon and were hoping to use the home advantage to their strength and take the three points on offer and extend their unbeaten run at home.

Petersfield started with the ball and immediately began to pile the pressure on the Salisbury defence with an all-out attack strategy.

This worked well as Salisbury started slowly, allowing gaping holes across the field to be exploited by the hosts.

Petersfield were 4-0 up after 15 minutes after goals from Hughes-Stanton (2) and J Atkinson (2).

A well-worked penalty corner goal from J Atkinson secured his hat-trick and extended the lead after his strike flew past the line.

The sixth goal arrived when the ball was pulled back across goal and was swept in by Hall.

Petersfield were reduced to ten men in the second half after Hughes-Stanton was sinbinned for a late tackle.

Hughes-Stanton returned to the action but soon revisited the sinbin after colliding with a player off the ball.

The home side extended their lead with a goal from Grinstead, chipping the ball into the net after picking up the rebound from an initial penalty corner strike.

Petersfield began to become complacent when back to full strength and soon found themselves reeling when Salisbury scored twice in quick succession.

Hughes-Stanton made up for his previous mistakes by scoring his third goal of the game, slipping the ball past the oncoming keeper.
