THE PETERSFIELD and District Angling Club Christmas match at Sumners Fishery near Horsham saw keen competition between the 21 members who took part.

The ‘fun’ annual outing, traditionally known as the ‘fur and feathers’ match, took place on December 19 and saw every angler collect some good prizes. Conditions were great for silvers with some carp showing. Club chairman Steve Chapman, who favours specimen fishing, managed to land a nice carp around 10lb on really light tackle.

Paul Etherington took top spot with a weight of 99.10, second place went to Steve Chapman with 43.13 and Jackson Edwards took third with 35.14.

The club’s next match will be on New Year’s Day at Nyewood Ponds.

Harting Coombe will be closed for five days from January 10 to January 14 for major maintenance work.

The club match set for January 16 there has now been rescheduled for Sunday, January 23. Once work has been completed, swims two to seven will be out of bounds until further notice.

The club are also seeking voluntary bailiffs for the 2022/23 season. The ideal candidates would be people who are retired or semi-retired with plenty of free time, but this is not essential.

Volunteers must be a club member of 12 months or more, with good interpersonal and communication skills and able to use discretion where required.

All current bailiffs will be contacted to confirm their services for 2022/23.
