CHURCHER’S College took a coach full of excited staff, parents and two swimming teams to the National Relay Finals at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to compete against the 30 best teams in the country.
The junior boys’ team of Max Brockdorff, Henry Plewes, Kai Jackson and Alex Sandberg had become Hampshire champions, which qualified them for the nationals as ninth fastest in freestyle and 26th fastest in the medley.
The juniors smashed expectations in the medley and were placed 11th, missing out on a place in the final by just 0.79 seconds. Next up for the juniors was the freestyle, where they came seventh in the final.
The boys’ intermediate age group team was made up of Rory Plewes, Ben Williams, Tom Parmenter and James Arnold. As Hampshire champions in the medley they had qualified as 33rd fastest nationally. On the day they came 28th nationally.
