Petersfield under-14 Pirates 7 Finchampstead under-14 Sharks 0: PETERSFIELD Town Juniors under-14 Pirates made it four wins out of four to continue their impressive start to the North East Hampshire Youth League (NEHYL) Division 1 season at Penns Place last Sunday.
With a few key squad players missing the 12 boys on match duty produced a strong performance which consisted of determination, skill and teamwork with their established flowing passing game.
The first 15 minutes were fairly tight. The Pirates had most possession but Finchampstead had a very well organised defence to cut out the early attacking threats.
However, as the half progressed the passing game paid dividends and Petersfield breached Finchampstead’s defence five times in quick succession.
The goals were shared between Aran Williams, Will McKechnie and Alex Chilton.
It wasn’t all one way traffic and the Sharks had a few dangerous attacks, but good defensive work from Owen O’Donnell, Ben Runacres, Ethan Cassan and James Longman kept the danger at bay. Petersfield goalkeeper Harrison Dodds was called on to make a spectacular diving save just before half time.
The Sharks regained their composure in the second half but the Pirates finally added two late goals from McKechnie and Joe Ramsay to give the team their biggest league win of the season so far.
The Pirates switch focus to a cup competition for their next game in a fortnight against Petersfield Town Juniors under-14 Polecats.
