GIVEN last week’s win against Winchester, Petersfield Squash Club’s first team were expecting a win against Nuffield.
First up on court was Sam Shuff. In a tight first game, which saw plenty of long rallies, Sam moved his opponent around the court. After winning the first game, Sam had put too much work into his opponent’s legs to give him any opportunity of getting back into the match. After a convincing second game, Sam finished off the match with a 9-0 third game to put the hosts 1-0 up.
Robin was on at the same time on the other court and was able to make his opponent do all of the work. Robin won the match 3-1, putting Petersfield firmly in the driving seat at 2-0 up.
The two Smiths went on court, providing two very different displays for the crowd. Andy showed his class with a devastating display to win 3-0 and ensure the Petersfield team clinched the win.
On the other court Ashley made hard work of his match, before sealing a 3-1 win.
Last up was Jon Graham, with the tie already won. Jon lost a tight first game, but he moved his opponent around well to win the second game. Jon ended up winning the match 3-1.
