Petersfield II v Mansbridge: PETERSFIELD’S second team were looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season but fell short as they chose to chase and lost by 122 runs against Mansbridge at the Heath.
Mansbridge got off to a steady start making 31 before Sam Priest (13) was caught at long-on off the bowling of Rich Stephens (1-59).
Elvidge (26) put on 63 for the next wicket with Brewster (93) before he was bowled by Oscar Amis (1-25).
C Hall retired hurt after pulling a muscle before K Hall (102 not out) set about the Petersfield bowling.
Brewster was stumped by Jake Hastie off Chris Russell’s bowling (3-56) after the pair had put on a match-winning 122 for the third wicket.
Chance (ten) and Leo Wolfe (ten) came and went as K Hall reached his hundred off the last ball of the innings with a straight four as the visitors finished on 269-5.
In reply Petersfield lost wickets at regular intervals.
Only three batsmen for Petersfield looked comfortable with Amis (40) again showing his undoubted talent with the bat.
Russell (26) was also in good touch before he was run out after a mix up with Stephens (31).
Stephens played well and shepherded the tail to within three runs of another batting point but was then adjudged leg before wicket with two balls left in the innings.
Ed Bayliss (nine not out) and Mark Hamilton tried to get Petersfield to 150 but were left short as opening bowler K Hall (2-16) returned to the attack to take two wickets in two balls to end the innings on 147.
