Trojans II v Froxfield: FROXFIELD beat a young Trojans side by 303 runs on Saturday afternoon.

Froxfield won the toss and batted first but lost Ashley Fooks and Paddy Cowell early on. When Jack Brailey also fell cheaply, Froxfield looked to be struggling on 60-3.

Hallam Brown (69) joined Toby Barnett at the crease and the pair added 96 in just 12 overs before Brown fell to a fortunate stumping, the ball hitting the wicketkeeper and bouncing onto the stumps before he could get back behind the line.

Skipper Jordan Hiscock (48) then helped Barnett add a further 116 from 13 overs before he was bowled, and Keiron Turner (41) scored quickly. Barnett batted through the innings to finish unbeaten on 133 as Froxfield racked up 364-6 from their 45 overs.

The home side’s reply got off to a steady start until Steve Singleton broke a 22-run opening stand and took a second wicket in the same over.

Singleton collected a further two quick scalps to leave the score on 39-4, and Cowell (3-16) helped him to rip through the rest of the batting order.

The final four wickets all fell with the score on 61 as Singleton (6-17) secured his best haul of the season so far.
