Ryde II v Froxfield: FROXFIELD picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 77-run win over Ryde on a trip to the Isle of Wight.

Ryde won the toss and put Froxfield in to bat first, but the decision backfired as Ashley Fooks and Paddy Cowell put on 77 in less than nine overs before Cowell fell for 19.

Fooks continued to play his shots before falling for a well-made 70 with the score on 120.

Captain Jordan Hiscock dominated the Ryde attack from his first ball, smashing eight fours and two sixes in making 57 from 31 balls, and Toby Barnett (19), Sudath Patabendi (11), Jack Brailey (38) and Sam Barnett (15) all chipped in as the top seven all reached double figures. Froxfield finished on 276-8.

Ryde’s reply got off to a slow start as Steve Singleton (1-21) and Patabendi kept it tight – the two openers conceding just 50 runs between them from their combined 18 overs on an excellent pitch for batting. Hiscock (2-23) and S Barnett (2-36) then picked up two wickets apiece, and T Barnett, Cowell and Steve Charles also got a wicket each as Ryde ended well short of their target on 199-8.

Andy Day (98 not out) just missing out on a century for the home team.
