Hawkley v Chichester All Stars: HAWKLEY skipper Ed Peel won the toss and put the visitors in to bat.

Liam Lloyd struck in the second over when Steve Clark held a sharp chance at first slip.

Newman and Bishop built a solid partnership to take the score to 40 before a change of bowling brought a wicket when Nick Hudson bowled Newman. Bishop scored quickly, supported by Stamp and then Jackson, and took the score to 74 before falling leg before wicket to Peel. Jackson hit a quickfire 17, which ended when he skied the ball to Tom Greene.

Magan Singodia finished the innings with three quick wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 117.

Hawkley’s reply was led by Greene and George Maltby, who both scored freely until Greene was bowled with the total on 27. Maltby continued the progress, supported by Steve Clark and then Clive Hopkin, until he was caught for 35.

Hawkley’s run rate slowed down, and Hudson’s attempt to force the pace ended when he was run out for 17. Peel produced a dramatic finale, hitting 38 runs from 16 balls and sealing Hawkley’s four-wicket victory with a towering six.
