Gosport Borough III v Petersfield II: RETURNING skipper Frank Straw lost the toss and Petersfield were asked to bat.
Petersfield were reduced to 21-3 after Toby Austin (two) and Nicky Caddick (four) were bowled by Kitchen (4-32). In between Squires (10) had hesitated on a quick single and was a half yard short of his ground.
Chris Russell (10) and Chris Wood (24) rebuilt the innings, although both struggled to get the ball away.
Andy Butcher (29) joined Wood after Russell had departed. When Wood departed Petersfield were 79-5.
Captain Straw (43) and Butcher put on 51 in more than a run a ball, the pair hitting boundaries with ease. Ed Milford (17) joined skipper Straw and carried on the good work, hitting two sixes.
Steve Gibson (eight not out) helped Petersfield to 169-9, which was a good score on a slow pitch and outfield.
Petersfield started quickly with Gibson (2-11) removing both openers in his first two overs, and M Gravels (28) was bowled by Ed Bayliss (1-32) to leave Gosport Borough on 36-3.
R Wood (five) was removed by Austin (1-14), and P Jenkins (21) and S Harris (29) took the score to 72 before Jenkins was bowled by Wood (3-20). Wood then bowled Harris four overs later.
Russell (2-25) then had G Archer (four) stumped off his second over before Titchener (21) was caught in the covers by Squires. Straw (1-18) returned to the attack to wrap up the innings as Bayliss took a comfortable catch at cover as Gosport lost by 48 runs.
