Clanfield v Howzat: CLANFIELD welcomed Howzat to South Lane Meadow on Sunday.
Clanfield captain Mike Collins won the toss and elected to bat first.
After the early loss of Collins in the third over, Chris Wheeler and Matt Bradley added a 170-run unbroken partnership for the second wicket as they both made half-centuries.
Both batsmen rotated the strike well with boundaries coming at regular intervals as Bradley made 69 not out and Wheeler 89 not out, with both batsmen retiring after batting for 31 overs to allow others a chance to bat.
After this double retirement, however, a batting collapse occurred which meant Clanfield only scored a further 21 runs for the loss of six wickets and the home side finished on 191-7 at the end of their allotted 40 overs.
This collapse was mainly down to Howzat captain Taylor, who bowled with pace and accuracy to finish with excellent figures of 3-19 from seven overs.
In reply some good bowling up front from Andy Wellen (3-11) and Steve Graham (2-9) saw three early Howzat wickets fall.
Chris Buckle then took over with four wickets, as he finished with figures of 4-35 off six overs.
Phil Weaver (1-25) also took a wicket, and Bob Wheeler (0-18) and Tim Ayling (0-33) both bowled economically for the home side.
Lambpot (50) completed a well-compiled half-century for the visitors, but he became one of Buckle’s four victims as Clanfield ran out winners by 50 runs.
