Bedhampton Mariners v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team crashed to a comprehensive nine-wicket defeat at Bedhampton Mariners on Saturday afternoon in Hampshire Cricket League County Division 2.

Petersfield batted first but were soon in trouble against Bedhampton’s opening bowlers Matt Deyzel (4-27) and Ali Gardner (3-19).

Captain Frank Straw (10), Tom Sherry (13), Hans Mai (12) and Joe Clarke (11 not out) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Petersfield were bowled out for just 69 in the 28th over. Alex Cox (3-9) was also in the wickets for Bedhampton.

Petersfield did make a breakthrough in the field when Mai dismissed Dan Clark leg before wicket for 12, but Benny de Jong (40 not out) and Chilton (12 not out) saw the hosts home to victory in just the eighth over.

Petersfield will hope to bounce back when they host Old Basing at The Heath on Saturday.
