Liphook & Ripsley v Rowledge: LIPHOOK and Ripsley’s first team slipped to a 52-run defeat against Rowledge at Ripsley Park on Saturday afternoon in Division 1 of the Southern Premier Cricket League.

The visitors batted first, but Liphook got off to the perfect start in the field when Ryan Covey (1-28) dismissed opener Nick Morant for two.

However, this brought number three batsman Tom Treble to the crease and Treble put Liphook’s attack to the sword with a blistering century.

Treble eventually fell for a belligerent 123 off 118 balls, which featured 17 fours and five sixes.

Jake Wish (21), Ian Metcalfe (16), Steven Martin (37 not out) and Joe Randall (13 not out) added valuable runs as the visitors scored 241-7 off their allotted 50 overs.

Charles Janczur (4-63) claimed four wickets for the home side.

Covey and Rob Nicklin got Liphook’s reply off to a good start with a 51-run partnership for the first wicket before Nicklin was dismissed for 20.

Covey kept going and helped himself to 82, but wickets fell regularly at the other end.

George Neave (18), Elliott Hawkins (18) and Harry Munt (12) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures and Liphook were bowled out for 189 in the 48th over.
