Bournemouth v Liphook & Ripsley: A COMMANDING innings of 93 by Harry Munt was the chief reason for Liphook and Ripsley’s nail-biting four-run win over Bournemouth in Division 1 of the Southern Premier Cricket League.

Openers Ryan Covey (21) and Rob Nicklin (58) provided Liphook with a sound start, but when Munt came to the middle at 40-1, 18 overs had already passed.

Munt then took the attack to Bournemouth’s experienced bowlers, scoring all round the ground with some destructive hitting as he changed the momentum of the Liphook innings.

Wicket takers Rob Pack (2-62) and Ed Denham (3-56) were unable to stem the flow of runs as Liphook finished on 234-6, having added 128 in a free flowing final 14 overs.

George Neave dismissed Bournemouth’s Tom West and Simon Woodruff within four overs to give Liphook the perfect start in the field.

A patient partnership of 68 was then provided by Park brothers Nick (71) and skipper Chris (28), but it was Martin Miller (32 not out) and a hard hitting 42 from Jake Hurley that set up the tight finish.

Bournemouth looked set for victory with 18 required from 15 balls until Covey got the crucial breakthrough, bowling Hurley with a fine yorker in the 48th over.

A tight 49th over from seamer Jack Campbell left the hosts requiring 11 runs off the final over. Covey nailed successive yorkers and Bournemouth needed a six from the last ball. Miller could only get a single as the hosts finished on 230-7.
