Hawkley v St James Casuals: HAWKLEY won the toss and chose to bat first.

After losing two early wickets Paul Cross and Liam Lloyd scored rapidly, taking the score past 50 before falling.

Paddy Cowell built a promising stand with Clive Hopkin before Hopkin was caught in the deep.

Kevin Hiscock then partnered Cowell in another 50-run stand, which saw Cowell reach his half-century.

Hiscock was not out on 31 as Hawkley finished on 174-6 at tea.

St James began their innings in a similar fashion to Hawkley, losing two wickets in the third over to the bowling of Nick Hudson.

Lloyd tempted an edge from Luff, but Saunders and West scored freely until a well-judged catch on the mid-off boundary by Jordan Henderson.

Hawley joined Saunders to take the visitors to 140, but Henderson made the decisive breakthrough when he trapped Saunders leg before wicket for 55.

Hawley was the next batsman to go and this left St James clinging on for survival with Hawkley fielders surrounding the bat.

The visitors managed to hold out for a draw and finished on 143-8.
