Hartley Wintney II v Liss: LISS moved to third in their division with a hard-fought win at Hartley Wintney.

The visitors batted first and Pleace and Kemp made a steady start before Kemp was bowled for 11. Pleace and Austin added 59 for the second wicket before a direct hit ran Austin out.

Cowell came to the crease and smashed his second delivery for six. Pleace reached his half-century with another boundary and Liss reached 139 before Pleace was caught in the deep for 81.

With ten overs left the score had reached 185 before two quick wickets saw Blanks go for 21 and Cowell for 58.

Liss went past 200 and posted a score of 235 despite losing two more wickets. Moore finished on 27 not out.

Blanks and Moore opened the bowling for Liss and were both hit for boundaries early on with the hosts looking to be aggressive from the start.

The dangerous Nair and Philpott were looking comfortable and were scoring at over five an over.

The breakthrough finally came in the 16th over with Moore bowling Nair for 42.

A change was needed to stop the boundaries so Liss introduced spinner Dillon-Thistleton and Cowell to try and halt the hosts. Liss took three wickets in three overs, but with nine overs left Hartley Wintney needed 77 with six wickets remaining.

The wickets continued to fall with four more wickets in four overs leaving the hosts on 181-8. A wicket from Cowell and a run out completed the win with the hosts falling 23 runs short. Cowell and Dillon-Thistleton both finished with four wickets each.
