Kemp was bowled two overs later, and Pleace junior fell when he was caught for 17. Liss were 39-2, and that quickly became 56-4 with the wickets of Cowell and Blanks.

Brownlee steadied the ship and knocked the ball around for singles to keep the scoreboard ticking over, while Pearce looked to take the bowlers on before he was caught for 16. Hannam then went on the front foot and took the game to the bowlers. The run rate increased and Liss passed 100 with 15 overs to go. Hannam then hit one too many big shots and was caught for 31.

The lower order added some quick runs before Liss were bowled out for 142. Brownlee finished on 28.

Blanks and Charles made a good start with the ball and struck in successive overs to leave the visitors 15-2.

Cowell made an immediate impact, taking his first wicket in just his second over, and Charles took his second wicket to leave the visitors 37-4. Hartley Wintney’s captain Bowles started to build a partnership with Reynaldo, but Cowell took two quick wickets to leave the visitors 68-6.

Cowell (5-30) took two more wickets in his final over to complete his five-for and leave the visitors 79-8.

Some big hitting from the tail took Hartley Wintney to 110, with only 33 required from seven overs. Blanks returned to the attack and took his second wicket and Hannam took the final wicket as Liss won by 22 runs.
