THE DISTRICT’S cricket teams were frustrated by the weather on Saturday, as heavy rain led to plenty of matches being abandoned without a result.

Liphook and Ripsley’s first team had made an encouraging start to their match at home to Rowledge’s first team in Division 1 of the Southern Premier League.

Liphook fielded first and reduced the visitors to 91-4 off 19 overs. Suman Ganguly (1-9), George Neave (2-32) and Sean Burton (1-31) took the wickets before the rain arrived and the match was abandoned.

The rain also intervened in the Hampshire Cricket League fixtures.

In County Division 3 North, Steep first team’s match at home to Liphook and Ripsley’s second team was abandoned, and Liss first team’s match at home to Old Tauntonians and Romsey’s third team was abandoned.

In Regional Division 1 South, Petersfield second team’s match at Follands’ second team was abandoned, and Steep second team’s match at United Services Portsmouth’s second team was also abandoned.

In Regional Division 4 North East, Petersfield third team’s match at home to Liphook and Ripsley’s third team was abandoned.
