Elsted v Waverley: WAVERLEY won the toss and put Elsted into bat.

Ollie Simpson looked in fine form while Mike Hale was prepared to play second fiddle. The partnership was worth 59 runs before Simpson was caught for 36. Hale was eventually bowled for a painstaking 16 runs, and Zaman and Jake Wadey featured for a useful stand of 37 runs before J Wadey was run out for 20. Then Elsted collapsed and lost three wickets for only four runs. After the allotted 35 overs, Elsted had scored 141-7.

Waverley lost Wright trapped leg before when the total was 10. Beanland and Golding looked in menacing form and added 36 runs before Beanland was caught at the wicket for 12. Golding and Brewer took control of the situation and Brewer, in particular, was very severe on the Elsted spin bowlers. Brewer duly completed a sparkling half-century before being bowled by Archie Wadey for 62, which included three sixes and six fours.

At 123-3 it looked all but over for Elsted, but Elsted had other ideas, as Terry Wadey and young Harry Stubbington changed the situation alarmingly. Waverley proceeded to lose six wickets for the addition of only 15 runs, but Litwin saw Waverley home for victory when he hit a boundary for Waverley to win an exciting match by one wicket. T Wadey had figures of 3-5 and Stubbington had figures of 2-14.
