Elsted v South Wells Ramblers: ELSTED batted first and they got off to a flying start through Rob Norris and young Danny Zaman.

Norris found the boundary on five occasions before he was trapped leg before wicket for 25.

Elsted then lost Jake Wadey and Ollie Simpson cheaply but Andy Wadey joined Zaman and they pulled Elsted out of a sticky patch. The partnership was worth 78 runs before A Wadey was run out by a direct hit for a very enterprising innings of 44.

Elsted lost their way after A Wadey’s dismissal, losing four wickets for ten runs, including the all-important wicket of Zaman for a well executed 42 runs. At the end of the allotted 35 overs Elsted had notched up 147-8.

South Wells Ramblers opened confidently and put on 28 runs for the first wicket before J Wadey bowled Jones for 16.

Leach and Owen put their side in the driving seat, and they added 43 runs before A Wadey bowled Leach for 29.

The South Wells Ramblers then collapsed alarmingly, losing five wickets for nine runs, with Anthony White and A Wadey causing havoc.

Naylor struck a few lusty blows for the visitors and the match was evenly poised.

Naylor and Childs edged the visitors closer to victory and South Wells Ramblers needed 11 runs for victory off the last over.

Simpson took on the responsibility of bowling the last over and only three runs were scored off the over as Elsted won a thrilling game by seven runs.
