Petersfield II v Froxfield: FROXFIELD picked up a much needed victory on Saturday against fellow strugglers Petersfield.
Petersfield won the toss and put Froxfield in to bat and made an early breakthrough when Toby Barnett was caught for just one run.
Skipper Jordan Hiscock played his shots and timed the ball beautifully, striking seven boundaries in his 38, but when Hiscock was caught and Ashley Fooks was bowled for five, Froxfield were in trouble at 56-3.
Hallam Brown and Rob Higgins combined to put on a crucial 151-run partnership, with Brown following up his unbeaten 87 last week with another 73 before he demolished his own stumps attempting to cut. Higgins (94) targeted the leg side boundary until he was bowled six short of a century as Froxfield posted 251-7.
Petersfield’s reply got off to a shaky start as Brown picked up two wickets in his second over but Froxfield had to wait until the 15th over to get another as Hastie (30) fell, again to Brown (3-30).
Sam Barnett (2-28) picked up two wickets, including top scorer Russell (42) in a testing ten-over spell, and Fooks (2-2) also got in on the act as Petersfield finished 93 runs short on 158-8.
