Froxfield v Ryde Cavaliers: FROXFIELD produced a stunning fightback in both innings to pull off a fine win against Ryde Cavaliers on Saturday.

Having elected to bat first, the hosts slipped to 30-4 with Ryde’s bowlers making full use of the overcast conditions.

The fifth-wicket pairing of Toby Barnett and Jack Brailey weathered the storm, before taking apart Ryde’s bowling attack. Their partnership had reached 146 when a rain delay led to the departure of T Barnett for 61, and Brailey followed soon afterwards for 78.

Cameos from Josh Haslett (21) and Sam Barnett (16) helped Froxfield reach 234, although due to the rain Ryde’s target was revised to 207 from 40 overs.

Sudath Patabendi (1-21) gave Froxfield the perfect start in the field with an early wicket. The game seemed to be slipping away from Froxfield as the visitors cruised to 158-1, but Steve Charles (3-22) dismissed Loudon for 75 and Higgins for 67.

T Barnett (3-31) took two wickets in two balls, and he then combined with Brailey to inflict a run out. Paddy Cowell (2-6) came into the attack to mop up the tail, as nine wickets fell for 24 runs and Froxfield wrapped up an impressive victory.
