Rowner v Froxfield: FROXFIELD’S first team got their season underway with an excellent five-wicket win away at Rowner in this Hampshire Cricket League County Division 4 South fixture.

Skipper Rob Higgins won the toss and elected to field in overcast conditions, but Rowner got off to a solid start with a first wicket stand of 59 which was broken by Jordan Hiscock (1-14).

C Kemp continued to score fluently until holing out for 58 off the bowling of Josh Haslett.

Sam Barnett then ripped through the middle and lower order to finish with figures of 6-34, and he was well supported by Singleton (1-40) as Rowner were bowled out for 160.

This looked to be a challenging total on a pitch offering variable bounce but J Hiscock (22) and Toby Barnett got off to a steady start before a 60-run partnership between T Barnett (45) and Brailey (31).

A couple of quick wickets fell but Kevin Hiscock (eight not out) and Hallam Brown (13 not out) saw Froxfield over the line.

Despite the good start Froxfield are still on the lookout for new players.
