Froxfield II v Easton & Martyr Worthy III: FROXFIELD’S second team continued their winning form with an easy win against the league leaders, Easton and Martyr Worthy’s third team.
On an overcast and blustery afternoon the home side won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started steadily and progressed to 71-3 off the first 16 overs.
Steve Charles was then brought into the attack and this signalled a batting collapse, with the visitors losing their last six wickets for just 20 runs. Charles finished with impressive figures of 4-7 off four overs.
In reply the home side never looked troubled, with openers Sudath Patabendi and Chan Sankar putting on 64 for the first wicket before Sankar was caught off the bowling of W Smart for 22.
Ryan Gander joined Patabendi and they swiftly reached the required total of 92 in the 19th over, securing Froxfield’s fifth win from six games.
