Froxfield II v Compton & Chandler’s Ford IV: FROXFIELD’S second team hosted Compton and Chandler’s Ford’s fourth team in their first game of the season.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first. Froxfield lost two wickets before the score reached double figures, but powerful hitting from Ryan Gander (49) with support from Sudath Patabendi (21) saw the home side move on to 68 before Patabendi was caught and bowled by R Wilson. As wickets fell steadily Froxfield struggled to accelerate the scoring rate and were only able to post a modest total of 130-9 off their 42 overs.

The visitors started confidently, and with the score at 84-2 in the 18th over victory looked assured, but tight bowling from Patabendi and Gander turned the game Froxfield’s way and wickets began to fall. Poor shot selection from the visitors didn’t help their cause and they collapsed to 114 all out, giving Froxfield a 16-run victory.
