Petersfield III v Froxfield II: FROXFIELD’S second team continued their good start to the season with a win against Petersfield’s third team.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch still damp from the thunderstorms earlier in the day.
Petersfield’s batsmen struggled to score against the Froxfield bowling attack and wickets fell at regular intervals.
The left handed C Shore offered some resistance but he was eventually out for 26, caught by Dennis Guy off the bowling of Ryan Gander.
The home side were all out for 88 in the 36th over, and the wickets were shared equally between Froxfield bowlers Jim Higgins (2-19), David Deakin (2-35), Shaun Guy (2-14) and Gander (2-11).
In reply, the visitors looked to be in a hurry with Gander hitting 27 off 12 deliveries, but when he was bowled by D May it signalled the start of a Froxfield collapse to 57-6.
Petersfield were starting to look like they could defend 88 and pull off an unlikely victory, but the experience of Guy and the fluent batting of Jamie Jenkins (36 not out) rescued Froxfield and saw the visitors through to a four-wicket win.
