Hook & Newnham Basics v Liphook & Ripsley: LIPHOOK and Ripsley got back to winning ways on Saturday with a hard fought win against Hook and Newnham Basics at Jubilee Fields.
Suman Ganguly’s innings of 99 not out was the chief reason. Liphook started well with an opening partnership of 70 between Rob Nicklin and Gabe Broadhurst (48). The middle order failed to take advantage. Ganguly repeatedly ran out of partners with only Sean Burton’s late cameo of 12 ensuring Ganguly would be there at the finish as Liphook finished on 246-7.
Chaz Janczur (3-35) and George Neave (1-34) made early inroads into Hook’s batting, but a partnership of 89 between home skipper Matt Love (60) and Nick Willcock (36) gave Hook hope. A lively spell from Dan Wrenn (4-29) claimed the wickets of the dangerous Love and Willcock. Wrenn also took the last wicket as Hook were bowled out for 195 in the 45th over.
