Liphook & Ripsley v Langley Manor: LIPHOOK and Ripsley’s first team can thank an exemplary batting performance for their resounding eight-wicket home win against Langley Manor on Saturday.
Put in to bat, Langley reached a respectable 195 all out in 48.3 overs.
They were, however, without a commanding single innings that might have put them in control, and Liphook managed to take a wicket as each new partnership developed.
Seamers Dan Harvey (3-26), Chaz Janczur (2-33) and Suman Ganguly (2-41) were the chief wicket takers, with Sean Burton, Sam Harvey and George Neave claiming one wicket each. Harry Munt took three catches in the outfield.
The home side’s reply started well with a 60-run opening partnership. Chris Martin was in fluent form until he was caught and bowled by Nick Doubell, and Rob Nicklin scored six fours in his 44 before he too was dismissed by Doubell.
Munt (48 not out) started carefully but saw Liphook home with an undefeated partnership of 89 with Ganguly, who scored a typically attacking seven-boundary 51 not out in good time to put the result beyond any doubt.
