Purbrook v Hambledon: HAMBLEDON slipped to a 44-run defeat at Purbrook in Division 3 of the Southern Premier Cricket League on Saturday afternoon.

Purbrook batted first, and Martin Lee (18), Sean Figgins (15), Josh McCoy (10), Brad Mengham (22) and Tom Amis (10) all got starts, but Hambledon took wickets at regular intervals to reduce the home side to 122-9.

However, last pair James Gurney (18 not out) and Matt McGlinchey (29) added 47 for the tenth wicket as Purbrook were bowled out for 169 in the 48th over.

Henry Glanfield (5-52) took the last wicket to complete his five-for. Sam Beagley (1-22), Ian Turner (1-23) and George Harding (3-32) were the other Hambledon wicket takers.

Hambledon’s reply got off to a disastrous start as Will Bond, Alexander Willoughby and Glanfield all fell for ducks to leave the visitors on 12-3.

Hambledon never recovered, and Spencer Le Clercq (30), Indy Chakrabarti (20) and Turner (15) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as the visitors were bowled out for 125. McCoy (3-22), Amis (1-9), Aaron Dean (1-13), Lee (3-19) and McGlinchey (2-26) did the damage for the hosts.
