Hungerford v Liss: LISS made the long trip to Hungerford but put in a lacklustre performance to bring their winning run to an end.

The home side batted first and were aggressive from the start and got off to a flyer.

Blanks made the breakthrough bowling Ponsford for ten, but this wicket did not stop the momentum.

Each batsman that came to the crease attacked, and Liss did not help themselves by dropping catches. Liss started to take wickets but the run rate was still high.

Charles and Dillon-Thistleton bowled well but the partnership between Hudson (57) and Rowell (42) took Hungerford towards 200, and a late flurry from Burbidge (27) meant the home side finished on 244-8.

Liss’ reply got off to a poor start with both openers falling for single figures.

Hannam took the home side’s approach and looked to score from the outset.

Wickets continued to fall at the other end and with Cowell retiring hurt a partnership was needed.

Kemp and Hannam built a good partnership and both batsmen scored boundaries at will as the visitors went past 100. Just as the game looked to be swinging back in Liss’ favour Kemp was caught for 35. Hannam carried on and went past his half-century, but with his partners coming and going he needed to stay at the crease.

Liss approached 200 with three wickets remaining and Hannam duly notched up his first century of the year.

Hannam finally fell for 103 and the last two wickets fell for just nine runs, leaving Liss all out for 209.
