Hawkley v XIIth Men: THE VISITORS won the toss and chose to bat.

Opening batsmen Moger and Brown were quick to latch onto any loose bowling and scored quickly off the early overs.

Hawkley bowlers Nick Hudson and Rory Evans tightened their lines and the scoring slowed down, but neither bowler could gain a breakthrough.

A change of bowling brought an immediate result when Brown chipped James Pringle to mid-off with the score on 54.

Three further wickets fell for 30 runs, Pringle sharing the honours with Liam Lloyd, before Hunter and Shinn shared a quickfire 80-run partnership and a total over 200 looked in prospect.

Hallam Brown bowled Hunter for 50 and Paul Cross removed Shinn, leaving the visitors on a competitive total of 189-6 at tea.

Hawkley’s run case started brightly with Sam Cunningham and Steve Clark scoring well before Clark offered a catch off the bowling of Ripner with the score on 20.

This sparked off a mini collapse as Hawkley subsided to 38-4 before Evans and Pringle combined to take the score past 60.

After Pringle fell for 15 Lloyd joined Evans and some spirited hitting ensued, taking the score to 91 before Evans fell for 34.

Another batting collapse ensued as the last four Hawkley batsmen failed to trouble the scorers, with Lloyd being the last batsman to fall when he was dismissed for 27 as Hawkley slumped to 118 all out and a 71-run defeat.
