Hawkley v Aardvarks: HAWKLEY’S annual fixture against the Aardvarks was reduced to a 25-over format due to early rain, which cleared later in the afternoon.

Hawkley batted first and got off to a flying start as Ed Peel and Chris Head put on 64 runs before Peel was bowled for 44, after which Paul Cross joined Head at the crease. Head completed his half century before being stumped for 53, after which Cross and Jordan Hiscock added useful runs as Hawkley finished on 154-7.

The visitors’ reply got off to a poor start when Hawkley keeper Magon Singodia made a smart stumping off the bowling of James Pringle. Thereafter Stephens offered some resistance to score 28 while wickets fell regularly at the other end. Clive Hopkin was the pick of the Hawley bowlers with a maiden five-wicket haul, with only Tom Butcher among the batsmen putting up much of a fight with a battling 44 as the Aardvarks finished on 128-9.
